REFLECTION

EXPERIENCE

Throughout the semester, I have learnt many things from this module from the history of typography to the details of how it came to be as well as how it transformed through the years. I also learnt how to construct my own typeface although it's not perfect this is the best hands-on experience I've had. The module didn't feel rushing even though we finished earlier than expected, everything was presented well and with all the feedback from both lecturer and peers I know how to improve my work.

OBSERVATIONS

My observation from this module is that I have seen how many my work has evolved although not perfect but better, I still have a lot to learn but I roughly know the basics now. I am now noticing how text formatting and typeface has a great deal in order to capture the audience attention be it in poster or magazine etc. After seeing the works of others I have also observed how although we were all given the same topic everyone has their own way of expressing the words and those that had the same idea had their own unique twist which still made it different it is nice and mind opening to see that there are so many creative people out there.

FINDINGS

I never had an interest in typography as I didn't see the need for it. Although I am still not invested in it, it has shown me that so many things come to play to create a typeface from the stroke to the alignment. Knowing when to change the kerning and sizes as well as having cross alignment, paragraph spacing, orphans & widows can change an ordinary looking text into a professional looking text.
